Janice Neal

Assistant Director
College and Career Success

Janice serves as the Assistant Director of College & Career Success and organizes high impact programs including Camp College, Benwood Scholars, and STEP-UP Chattanooga. She focuses on recruitment and retention of students and develops program curriculum used for training.

Janice, a Chattanooga native, joined the Public Education Foundation staff in January 1992 and has served in a variety of roles during her 32 years at PEF. A quiet leader who has a deep passion for serving the community and helping others reach and exceed their potential, Janice is a member of the Southern Association for College Admission Counseling, the National Association for College Admission Counseling, the National College Attainment Network, a founding member of the College Goal TN Conference committee and a founding member of the Cindy Monroe Values & Vision Scholarship selection committee. Janice is a mentor for students in various PEF programs including Benwood Scholars and Camp College. Janice strongly believes that she was born to help others better their lives. “I think of those who helped me whether through words of encouragement or by providing direction and I want to offer the same. There is a song, "If I can help somebody as I pass along, If I can cheer somebody with a word or song, If I can show somebody how they’re traveling wrong, then my living shall not be in vain."

Janice grew up the youngest of four daughters. She desires to help others find their internal spark and give encouragement on how they can accomplish anything they imagine they can reach. Janice is the proud mother of a son, Jackson, who is her best friend and travel partner. After spending most of her life caring for others, she has learned she wants to help folks on a greater scale. Janice was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis 20 years ago but works hard to not let it slow her down or stop her mission.
