As a College Advancement Mentor, Stephanie works to assist students to navigate the college going and financial aid process, build relationships, and collaborate with college representatives to aid in a seamless transition from high school to a post-secondary institution. Stephanie began her collegiate journey at a community college and knows the value of what they have to offer a first-year student. Providing students with individualized support is key to the success of the student-mentor relationship.
After earning a Bachelor’s in Psychology and a Master’s in Special Education, Stephanie started her professional career as a Special Education teacher in the Wake County Public School System (Raleigh), NC. She has had the immense joy of watching many of her former students graduate from technical/community colleges, and universities. Her other roles have included: The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill New Teacher Support, small business owner in the gourmet foods industry, and a Social-Emotional Learning coach with Hamilton County Schools.
During her leisure time, Stephanie enjoys traveling to far-off places with her husband, Ned; reading historical fiction and non-fiction literature, studying art history; cooking for and entertaining friends and family.
