As the Marketing and Communications Coordinator, Shannon works to broadcast the mission and work of PEF by providing strategic marketing direction, campaign coordination, and social media management for theorganization. She came to PEF with 5 years of marketing experience in higher education, including work for Cal Berkeley Alumni Association, EmoryUniversity, and Covenant College. Shannon has also dabbled in teaching and writing tutoring. Her professional certifications include “Nancibell Verbalizing and Visualizing, Language Comprehension and Thinking”certificate, and multiple virtual trainings in the StoryBrand method of marketing. Shannon holds a bachelor's degree in English and a minor inEducation from Covenant College where she also served as Editor in Chief ofThorn Magazine, the College’s annual literary publication.

Shannon’s work at PEF combines her knack for storytelling and natural campaigning spirit with her passion for public education. She holds close the belief that public education has the power to elevate lives and communities. Her goal is to inspire enduring community-wide support and enthusiasm for the organization

She is an avid fiction reader, a yogi, and an occasional quilter. She has been married to her husband Jason since 2016. Together they have two children, Heidi Wren and Rory Shepherd.
