As Director of Student Success, Michelle is responsible for the college success arm of the college access and success work of the College & Career Success team. She works closely with liaisons from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, Chattanooga State Community College, and Lane College to ensure that Hamilton County students have the support they need to be successful. She also works with and trains mentors who work directly with students who graduate from high school and transition to college. Michelle currently serves on the Chattanooga School for the Liberal Arts PTA Board where she has served for over two years.

Michelle has more than 15 years of experience in higher education. She began her higher education experience at Dalton State College where she served as the Academic Support Services Coordinator and an adjunct instructor in the College of Business. While at Dalton State College, she introduced and implemented supplemental instruction and the academic Early Warning Initiative. From there, she worked at Middle Tennessee State University as the Assistant Director of the Office of Institutional Diversity where she coordinated a successful program designed to increase retention and graduation rates for minority students and an adjunct instructor in the College of Business. She’s worked at Western Governors University as the Program Manager for the Economics team of instructors. Michelle graduated from the University of Tennessee at Martin with a B.S. in Management with an emphasis in Human Resource Management; the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with a Master of Business Administration with an emphasis in Human Resource Management; Middle Tennessee State University with a Specialist in Education (Administration and Supervision); and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with a Doctor of Education (Learning and Leadership.) Michelle also holds an Associate Professional in Human Resources certification.

In her leisure, Michelle enjoys cheering on her sons in their athletic endeavors, singing, reading, and traveling. Michelle is also active in several organizations, including Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
