Support College Access

Dear Friend of PEF,

When a letter from the Public Education Foundation arrived, I was pleased to see that “a bright future for every student” meant an emphasis on the work of the former College Access Center, an organization founded to help more students go to college. When CAC merged with PEF in the summer of 2009, there was a great opportunity to build upon past successes.

More than three years later, you see not just a continuation of CAC’s work, but an expansion on the initiatives that help students navigate the often confusing and complicated road to college. College advisors, Camp College, Passport Scholars, a student-friendly website, a public-awareness campaign, a new volunteer coordinator - I could go on and on about the great work PEF is doing.

Take a look at this short video to see how PEF is helping more students think about, choose, apply, attend, and succeed in college. I believe you will agree that an investment in PEF is a fine investment in kids.

This is important work and what’s been done so far is impressive. Please join me in supporting PEF’s college access initiative as we work to make sure there is a bright future for every child in Hamilton County.

Sincerely,

Gordon Street

“Due to the funds that were provided… …for us by the Benwood Initiative, we’ve been able to provide some of the best research-based workshops for our teachers to implement reading strategies in the classroom, and we’ve established a literacy block which is two hours per day, every day, for all of our students.”
