KeyNotes: Challener marks a decade of change

Congratulations to PEF President Dan Challener, who celebrated his 10th anniversary with PEF on May 1. Working in close partnership with Hamilton County schools, Challener’s work has helped every school in Hamilton County through PEF’s Leadership Initiative, which provides professional development in educational best practices for principals and other school leaders. In addition, he has helped bring about nationally renowned school reform efforts in high schools, middle schools and the 16 “Benwood” elementary schools in Hamilton County. As a result, test scores have been rising, more students are graduating from high school, and more students are enrolling in college.

Challener looks forward to the challenges and opportunities offered by the next decade of work, with a continued focus on improving academic achievement so that all students succeed in school and in life.

I can not say enough ...
about all of the ways that PEF has enriched my own personal journey in the profession of education! The Leadership Fellows, Professional Development at our annual retreats, mentoring support and the Book Club have enabled me to share common ground with educators throughout the system. I am better as a result of that than I would have been without PEF.
