Even teachers and school leaders have homework!
Literacy Book Club members meet regularly to discuss an assigned book on a topic that helps develop strong school leadership skills. Members meet on their own time either before or after school at the PEF Leadership facilities so the meetings do not disrupt their job duties.
For the 2007-2008 academic year, scheduled discussions include:
- "On Common Ground: The Power of Professional Communities," by Eason-Watkins, Eaker, and DuFour (Sep. 25).
- "Learning by Doing," by DuFour, DuFour, and Eaker (Oct. 23).
- "The Learning Leader: How to Focus School Improvement for Better Results," by Reeves (Nov. 27).
- "Letters to a Young Teacher," by Kozol (Jan. 29).
- "The Leadership Challenge" by Kouzes and Posner (Feb 26).
Past discussions have included:
- “Fair Isn’t Always Equal” by Rick Wormelli
- “Breakthrough” by Michael Fullan, Hill and Crevola
- “Teachers Teaching Teachers” by the National Staff Development Council
- “Good to Great” by Jim Collins
- “The World is Flat” by Thomas L. Friedman
